I am so excited that Carson City and the State of Nevada can once again host the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights ceremony on the Capitol Grounds on Friday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 pm.
Nothing warms my heart more than seeing Carson’s fifth-graders singing beloved Christmas carols as they have since 1988. Like many of you, I was so disappointed the event was not possible in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic.
I’m thrilled to invite you to come to City Hall after the tree lighting and visit with Santa, have a cup of cocoa with the me, and enjoy a holiday cookie provided by our downtown merchants.  You’ll be able to take family pictures with our new Christmas Penguin Cut-Outs in front of City Hall (bring your own camera). There will be even more opportunities for family photos at McFadden Plaza and Telegraph Square. The penguins, bears, and reindeer photo op locations will be available beginning November 29, 2021. It is our hope your family will create an annual holiday photo that becomes a cherished keepsake of your beloved community.
On behalf of the entire Board of Supervisors and my husband Jim, I wish you a joyous and safe holiday season.
Lori Bagwell
Mayor of Carson City
P.S. Please share your family photos #ccholidaycutouts
