The Carson City Host Lions Club is sponsoring a fun Chalk Art Contest as part of the Nevada Day festivities on Oct. 30.
The contest is open to individuals, families, and businesses. Contestants will create chalk art masterpieces on sidewalk at a central location on East Washington Street based on the theme of “My Favorite Moment in Nevada.”
The Lions Club will provide all contestants with chalk supplies. Prizes will be awarded to the top three chalk artists or family teams judged by members of the Lions Club.
Contestants will pick up chalk starting at noon on Oct. 28 and preview assigned sidewalk spaces. They will work on chalk art projects anytime throughout the day on Oct. 29 and until noon on Oct. 30. Judging will take place at 2 p.m. and the winners announced at 4 p.m. on Oct. 30. The public is invited to observe the work anytime during Nevada Day.
To enter the contest, go to the Carson City Host Lions Club website at https://carsoncitylions.com/chalk/ and download the entry form. Return the entry form no later than Oct. 27, along with a $10 entry fee to the Carson City Host Lions Club.
Entries may be returned through email at carsoncitylions@gmail.com or on-line on the club’s website at www.carsoncitylions.com/chalk or through the U.S. mail to P.O. Box 825, Carson City, NV 89702. Options for payment of the entry fee are listed on the entry form.
The proceeds from the entry fees will be used to benefit the Lions’ Scholarship Program. The Club annually provides one or two scholarships to Carson High School graduating seniors every year.
