5 COVID-19 deaths for Quad County region this week

Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties saw a total of five deaths from COVID-19 in the last week, Carson City Health and Human Services reported Thursday.
For Sept. 2-8, CCHHS is reporting five deaths, 847 new cases, and 173 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 17,001, with 13,931 recoveries and 264 deaths; 2,806 cases remain active.

Carson City had 1 death, 253 new cases, and 56 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 29 new cases per day with a 10.4% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 1 death, 209 new cases, and 44 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 22 new cases per day with a 23.2% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had 3 deaths, 377 new cases, and 73 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 40 new cases per day with a 22.7% test positivity rate.
Storey County had 8 new cases and 0 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 1 new case per day with a 13.3% test positivity rate.
 
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
 
As of September 8, 2021, approximately 182,766 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 70,375 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 80,922 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 88,463 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna. This number also includes those who completed the series). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.
In Carson City, 31,466 residents have been completely vaccinated and 34,140 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 62.9% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 24,042 residents have been completely vaccinated and 25,919 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 54.5% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 24,682 residents have been completely vaccinated and 27,616 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 49.24% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 732 residents have been completely vaccinated and 788 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 17.9% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
 
Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
 
All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. CCHHS will be hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout the Quad-County Region. Tests are available free of charge, on a first come, first serve basis; no appointments or pre-registration needed.
