Senator girls drop one to McQueen
The McQueen Lancers were able to get the better of the Senator girls’ soccer team Saturday afternoon in Reno.
By a 5-2 margin, the Lancers have scored a Class 5A regional best 13 goals through their first four games.
Gracie Walt and Alyssa Tomita each scored a goal for Carson.
UP NEXT: Carson (1-2) finally got to play at home Tuesday against Reed (2-1-1). Wednesday, the Senators are back on the road at Reno (1-3).
Carson boys’ soccer falls to Damonte Ranch
On Saturday, the Carson High boys’ soccer team fell on its home field to Damonte Ranch, 2-1.
The result puts the Senators at 1-2 early this season.
UP NEXT: Carson will host Wooster (0-2-1) Wednesday before traveling to Sparks (6-0-1) over the weekend.
Carson cross country has showing in Grass Valley
The Carson High School girls cross country team placed seventh out of 18 teams Saturday at the Nevada Union Cross Country Invitational.
Senior McKenna Budd led the Senator girls with a finish in 21:18.54, taking 17th out of 120 runners.
Sophomore Ella Dooley was next to finish the 3-mile race in 22:14.33, taking 37th.
Claire Cartier, Julia Kaiser and freshman Eleanor Romeo were the next three girls to finish in the top half of the field for Carson.
Eva Lindbloom, Macy Clifford and Cassidy Leathan all ran in the frosh-soph race for the Senators.
The Carson boys cross country team took 13th of 17 teams in attendance Friday.
Freshmen Sawyer Macy and Alex Miner were the first two to complete the race for Carson, finishing 51st and 52nd, respectively.
Senior Dominic Valdez was right behind the Senator underclassmen, taking 53rd.
Fellow freshman Abraham Ortega took 95th in 20:09.80.
Senator girls’ golf team kick starts season
The Carson High girls’ golf team was second as a team at Arrowcreek last Thursday.
Kylee Wentz was the low scorer for the Senators, shooting a 46.
Sarah Wiggins was right behind Wentz with a 48.
Rhianna Redwin and Madeline Silsby finished the outing with scores of 55 and 58, respectively.
Dayton volleyball sits above .500 after nine games
With three wins in straight sets over the last two weeks, Dayton High volleyball finds itself at 5-4 through nine games this season.
On Sept. 1, the Dust Devils bested Sparks 3-0 before turning around and taking down Virginia City by the same score two days later.
Truckee was able to contain Dayton in a 3-1 loss last Wednesday, but the Dust Devils responded by shutting out North Valleys.
UP NEXT: Dayton (5-4) will travel to Wooster (6-4) Wednesday, looking to remain above .500.
Wooster football bests Dayton
The Dust Devils’ first home football game of the season came against Wooster High School Friday night.
The Colts went back to Reno with a 62-16 victory.
Eloy Sandoval had a 1-yard rushing touchdown for the Dust Devils while also hauling in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Isaiah Powell.
A fourth quarter safety was the final time Dayton put points on the board Friday night.
UP NEXT: Dayton (0-2) will travel to North Valleys (2-0) this Friday.
Dayton High girls’ soccer opens season 1-1
The Dust Devil girls’ soccer team is 1-1 to start the season after topping North Valleys at home before falling to Wooster.
In the 2-0 win over the Panthers Sept. 2, Dayton had goals off the foot of senior Zolet Miklich and junior Elysia Torres.
Goalkeeper Danielle Harris posted a shutout with five saves in net.
Last week, Dayton fell to Wooster 6-0.
UP NEXT: The Dust Devils (1-1) will be back at home Thursday against Sparks (0-2).
Sierra Lutheran football opens season with ‘W’
The Falcons needed little time to open up a solid margin against Excel Christian Saturday.
In a 49-13 win, Sierra Lutheran led 22-0 after the end of the first quarter.
By the end of the first half, the Falcons led 38-6.
UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran (1-0) will be playing at home again this Saturday against Loyalton (CA).
