The Lady Wave soccer team, playing with a full roster for the first time this season, flexed its muscles against two north Reno schools last week.
Fallon took down North Valleys, 8-2, on Wednesday and followed with a 5-0 shutout over Hug on Saturday in its season-opening home games at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex. Fallon jumps into 3A East league play on Thursday when it hosts Lowry at 4:45 p.m.
In the win over North Valleys, Sydney Gusewelle and Shealyn Snodgrass each scored two goals, and Rachel Mori, Lillian Howard, Zoey Jarrett and Liz Ballesteros each scored once. Gusewelle led the team in assists with two and Alicia Basurto, Kira Johnston and Snodgrass each added one.
Goalkeepers Alica Basurto and Madix Wehe shared playing time against the Panthers with Basurto recording five saves against six shots on goal and Wehe with two saves against two shots on goal.
Against the Hawks, Gusewelle posted another two-goal performance and Howard also had two goals. Both also had one assist each. Jarrett scored once and had an assist, while Ballesteros added one assist.
Basurto recorded four saves.
The Greenwave boys ran into another tough 5A team, posting a 9-1 road loss to McQueen on Thursday.
