New wind advisory issued for Carson City

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Saturday from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. for the greater Carson City-Minden-Reno area.
“Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected,” said the advisory posted at weather.gov. “Wind prone areas could see gusts exceed 65 mph.”
Saturday’s forecast includes morning rain showers in Carson City with snow in the mountains, and rain chances dot the forecast for next week.


THE FORECAST
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 61. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Friday night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 5 a.m. Snow level 7,000 feet lowering to 6,500 feet. Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Saturday: Showers likely, mainly between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Snow level 6,400 feet. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 68. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 33. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Breezy.
Monday night: A chance of rain, mainly after 11 p.m. Snow level 7,000 feet lowering to 6,400 feet. Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Breezy.
Tuesday: A chance of rain before 11 a.m. Snow level 6,100 feet. Partly sunny, with a high near 58.
Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.
Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37.
Thursday: A chance of rain. Snow level 7,000 feet rising to 7,800 feet in the afternoon. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.
