Local Emergency Planning Committee 

The Storey County Local Emergency 

Planning Committee (LEPC) has been 

established by the Storey County Board of 

Commissioners through the Community Right- 

To-Know aspects of Title III of the Superfund 

Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 

1986 (Public Law 99-499). This committee 

is responsible for locating, identifying, 

quantifying, preparing, responding and 

planning for all hazardous materials located 

within Storey County. This includes all fixed, 

mobile and other facilities that may be 

permanent or mobile threat to the health and 

safety of all residents. 

The LEPC has developed and implemented a 

plan to address all of these issues.
