NWS: Snow coming to Carson City on Friday, Saturday

Carson City can expect some snowfall this weekend, according to the National Weather Service, with some wind gusts occurring Friday night and rain adding to the mix Saturday morning.

Thursday is expected to be calm and cloudy, reaching a high near 40 degrees.

On Friday, Carson will see a slight chance of snow before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. Overall, it will be partly sunny with a high near 40. Gusts are expected to reach 20 mph, and there is a 20% chance of rain.

For the weekend:

  • Friday evening into Saturday morning could bring snow at 4 a.m., and the skies will be mostly cloudy with a low around 25. Gusts will reach 25 mph, and the chance of precipitation is 60%, the NWS reports. Snow could reach up to an inch.
  • Saturday morning, Carson should see snow before 10 a.m., then rain and snow between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and rain again after 1 p.m. The snow level should rise to 5,700 feet in the afternoon, with a high of 43. New snow accumulation of less than 1 inch could occur, and a chance of rain is 90%.
  • Saturday night, rain should happen before 7 p.m.
  • Snow is expected before 4 p.m. Sunday, and skies should be mostly cloudy with a low around 15.

Early next week, it is expected to be partly cloudy Monday with a high near 33 Monday.
