The Brewery Arts Center and Michael Tedesco will host a city-wide unique take on the classical caroling holiday tradition called Unsilent Night — an international event created by Phil Kline. It’s been described as “A luminous soundscape played by the audience on boomboxes carried through city streets.”

The event takes place Sunday, Dec. 18 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and is free. The 45-minute walk starts and ends at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., in Carson City.

To participate you will need to download the Unsilent Night app for iPhone or Android and bring your portable speakers/boomboxes. Please download the App via Wi-Fi before you come to the event.

ABOUT UNSILENT NIGHT

Unsilent Night is an original composition by Kline, written specifically to be heard outdoors in December. It takes the form of a street promenade in which the audience becomes the performer. Each participant downloads one of four tracks of music in the form of a Mp3. Together all four tracks comprise Unsilent Night.

The fact that the participants play different "parts" simultaneously helps create the special sound of the piece. Participants carry boomboxes, speakers, or anything that amplifies music, and simultaneously start playing the music. They then walk a carefully chosen route through their city’s streets, creating a unique mobile sound sculpture which is different from every listener's perspective.
