The Nevada Department of Transportation is accepting applications through February for paid summer internships.
A spokesman said the internship program gives students real-life experience in engineering and construction, providing on-the-job training in civil and environmental engineering including highway construction, maintenance, surveying and asset management. Interns also learn about traffic engineering, ADA compliance and bridge inspection.
Internships are available in Carson City, Las Vegas, Reno, Elko, Ely, Tonopah and Winnemucca. Applications must be received through Feb. 28.
To apply, go to careers.nv.gov and search for Public Service Intern. Applicants must be high school graduates who are currently enrolled in a college degree program.
