The Carson City Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit is hosting an introductory Barks & Bandages class Saturday, Feb. 19 from 2-5 p.m. to help prepare dog owners for pet emergencies. The training session will take place at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Ormsby Room, 991 E. Musser St.
Topics include recognizing symptoms of internal bleeding, heatstroke, toxin ingestion, allergic reactions, rattlesnake bites, and gastric dilatation-volvulus, or “bloat.” Participants will learn to treat minor wounds, pad burns, vomiting, and diarrhea. After the session there will be a question-and-answer session.
The class size is limited to 35 participants. Participants will not be allowed to bring their pets. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Admittance will be closed when full. The first 35 participants that are properly enrolled for the training will be notified via e-mail.
