Gov. Steve Sisolak has signed an executive order that attempts to reign in the growth of healthcare costs in Nevada.
The order, he said, sets, “a benchmark for how much the cost of healthcare services should grow in a year.”
He said it also charged the insurance companies and providers to work together to control cost increases.
“This executive order helps ensure that healthcare costs do not grow unchecked and create undue hardship for patients,” he said.
He said the Patient Protection Commission will work with the insurance division, state health insurance exchange and Health and Human Services department to try to meet those goals.
The state is working with the Peterson-Milbank Program for Sustainable Health Care Costs which provides technical assistance to states developing targets for total health care spending.
