The Oasis Academy boys basketball team got back into the win column, defeating Pershing County and enCompass Academy last week to snap a four-game losing streak.
The Bighorns knocked off the Mustangs, competing in the 2A, 62-43, on Tuesday in Lovelock.
Senior Trevor Halloran hit five 3-pointers to lead the team with 28 points, senior Jacob Pike and junior Casamaro White each scored 10 points. Senior Westin Booker added seven points for Oasis Academy, which shot 49 percent from the floor and 47 percent from long distance.
Pike added 13 rebounds to complete the double-double and Booker posted 18 rebounds, a game-high.
In a 53-16 win over enCompass in Reno on Friday, Pike led the Bighorns with 21 points and senior Halloran added 15. Freshman Fenn Mackedon scored seven points followed by Booker with four. Halloran hit a pair of 3-pointers and Pike had one.
The Lady Bighorns’ slump continued as they lost to Pershing County, 65-19, for their sixth loss in a row. A score was unavailable for the game against enCompass.
Senior Jaylee McEwen led Oasis Academy with eight points, junior Tylie Norcutt scored four and freshman Saray Hernandez added a 3-pointer. Senior Gabby Hockenberry-Grimes and freshman Taylynn Maynez each had two points.
Oasis Academy welcomes Sierra Lutheran to town Friday before traveling to Virginia City on Saturday and Smith Valley on Tuesday.
