The Nevada Veterans Coalition and a small group of veterans honored former members of the U.S. military who were interred in January and February at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
In many cases, according to the NVC, family or friends were unable to attend the ceremony. The majority of veterans honored in January previously served in the U.S. Army.
The Army veterans include: Cpl. Donald Sintek, PFC Roy Hallquist, Pvt. James Shine, Pvt. Roy Predmore, Sgt. Clare Hoppe, Pvt. Jamie Hicks, Pvt. Keith Pless, Pvt. Kenneth Nichols, Pvt. Stan Marczyk and Spec. 3 Clyde Thomas.
Sailors included Seaman Daniel Harms, SN Wilbert Sauer and SN Charles Yew.
In February, the NVC honored: Pfc. Michael Ferrara, Spec. 5 Terry Bell and Spec. 5 Thomas Simpson, Army; Airman 1st Class Lester Legaux and Staff Sgt. Charles Leslie, Air Force; ET1 Siguard Jorgensen, Coast Guard; and MMFR Robert Fredericks.
Every month on the fourth Thursday beginning at 3 p.m., the NVC conducts a military funeral to remember the men and women who served in the armed forces.
