The Greenwave swimming team will compete in this weekend’s 3A Northern Region meet at the Carson Aquatic Facility where the top swimmers advance to next week’s state meet.

Swimming begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. The top-four individual finishers and top-four relay teams in each event advance to state.

Fallon has several swimmers ranked in the Top 25 in the region, with a select few having times that could push them into the state meet.

For the boys, senior James Cosman has a chance in three events — 200-meter free, 500 free and 200 individual medley. Cosman is ranked fourth in the 500 free at 5 minutes, 15.09 seconds, while he’s within 9 seconds of the top four in the other two events.

Junior Danner Rowlett is ranked No. 1 in the 50 breast at 38.99, and sophomore Macray O’Neill is fourth in the 50 back at 34.74. Sophomore Zachary Koenig is within striking distance in four of his events with his best chance at the 50 free where he’s less than 3 seconds from the top four with a time of 25.39. Koenig is ranked in the top eight in the 100 free (56.70), 100 back (1:04.32) and 100 breast (1:09.22).

For the girls, sophomore Claudia Garcia Barbudo ranks third in the 50 breast at 45.93 and fourth in the 50 fly at 43.48. Junior Rebecca Smith is ranked third in the 50 back at 38.79.

Junior Evelyn O’Neill needs to shave off 4 seconds from her 1:04.42 time in the 100 free and also in the 100 back (1:14.75) to qualify.
