Douglas and Carson High Schools combined for nine tennis players on the Class 5A all-region teams released last week.
All nine selections came on the honorable mention list.
On the girls side, Carson’s Meryl Johnson picked up an all-region nod for her play this season.
Per MaxPreps, Johnson – a sophomore – was 8-1 in singles matches this season while posting a 10-4 clip on the doubles court for an 18-5 overall record.
For Douglas, senior Joscelyn Turner also earned all-region honors in singles.
Turner, who placed sixth in the year-end regional singles tournament, went 19-6 in singles matches this season.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Turner was 15-3 with two of her losses coming to players on the first and second team all-region spots.
In girls doubles, Carson’s pairing of Dahlia Keating-McEllistrem and Ava Schofield were the Senators’ lone all-region selection.
They were the best pairing all season for the Senators, going 21-6 in 27 doubles matches.
McKenna Chappel and Abby Hutchings went 16-5 in matches they played together this season, earning the Douglas pairing an all-region selection.
Boys all-region teams
Douglas’ Kolten Brown was the lone singles player between either boys team to pick up an all-region nod.
Brown, who was selected to the honorable mention team, went 14-10 in singles competition this fall.
In doubles, Douglas’ Wade Kuhlmann and Wyatt Frisby secured an all-region bid as well, picking up honorable mention status.
The duo went 15-9 this season when playing together, including a perfect 8-0 in No. 3 doubles matches.
