Jesus taught that the greatest in his kingdom would be the servant of all. The servant would be like the master, who did not come to be served, but to serve.

The servant loves and promotes the best interest of others. The servant of the Lord longs to hear the master’s praise, “well done, good and faithful servant.” To be good is to be faithful and to be faithful is to be good. A good marriage consists of faithful spouses. A good workplace consists of faithful employers and employees. A good friend is a loyal and faithful friend.

A good servant is faithful in little things. Our Lord said, “if you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.” It was said of Jesus, “he does all things well.”

Forty-three years ago, I was welcomed to this community by a fellow minister, who was in his seventh year of ministry in Carson City. He has proven to be a good and faithful servant and friend. In little and large, he has been faithful. His involvement in his church family and community has been inspiring… and for 50 years!

Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade, Bruce Henderson has been a blessing to Carson City and to this Carson City minister.

Congratulations, Bruce, on 50 years of service. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Carson City is a richer place because you have made it your home.
