Churchill Dems to meet

The Churchill County Democrats will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the public library annex, 507 S. Maine St., on the corner of South Maine Street and East Fairview, just north of the library. They will be electing officers for the next two years. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.

Youth awards

Nevada Department of Veterans Services is seeking nominations for the Youth Serving Veterans Award.

If you know of someone, age 19 or younger, or a group of young people (same age requirement applies) who is making a difference in the lives of veterans or the veterans’ community, now is the time to speak up and nominate them. https://buff.ly/3Zb99Zm

Mother-son movie

The annual mother-son movie night hosted by the Grad Night 2023 committee will be held at Fallon Theatres on March 18.

“How to Train Your Dragon 2” starts at 6 p.m. and “Despicable Me” starts at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 per couple, $5 for each additional person and can be purchased at the door.

Funds raised help graduating seniors have a safe and sober celebration.

Father-daughter dance

Annual father-daughter dance will light up the night.

The neon party Grad Night 2023 fundraiser is Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the City-County Gym at Venturacci Park.

The cost is $20 a couple and $10 for each additional person.

Tickets may be purchased from Enamel Salon at 37 and 41 Whitaker Lane and will also be sold at the door with cash or card accepted.

WNC nursing

WNC's Nursing program applicants are reminded of upcoming dates to take the required entrance exam (Test of Essential Academic Skills). Testing is scheduled Feb. 24, March 3 and March 16. Testing is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cedar Building 320 on the Carson City campus.

Check in at 8:30 a.m. Students must complete the entrance exam no later than April 1 to be considered for admission.

The Churchill County Republican Central Committee has announced Gov. Joe Lombardo will attend this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner on March 18.

• Stop smoking and discourage smoking in your home.

• Seal cracks in floors and walls with materials designed for this purpose.

• Increase air flow in your house by opening windows and using fans and vents.

• Ask about radon-resistant construction techniques if you are buying a new home.
