Carson High girls basketball gave Galena fits Monday night in the regional play-in game, leading at the half and after the third quarter.

The Grizzlies finished the contest, outscoring Carson 16-7 over the final eight minutes of regulation to win 49-41.

Both Dahlia Keating and Lauren Finnerty were hot to start the contest with eight and seven points, respectively.

Finnerty went on to score nine more points in the second half to finish with 16 points, unofficially.

Carson trailed 45-37 when Clarissa Quintana found Makayla Rabideau for a triple from the top of the arc.

Down five, the Senators nearly had a chance to cut it to three, but a Grizzlies timeout with 1:04 remaining saved a turnover underneath the hoop.

The Grizzlies were able to connect on all four of their final attempts from the charity stripe inside of the final minute to finish off the contest.

Rabideau ended the night with seven points, including two triples. Lillian Turner and Ana Cazares had four points as well for Carson.

Galena’s Mia Turner led the Grizzlies with 15 points, 12 of which came in the second half.

The Senators end the season with a 1-19 record and will lose one senior in Alexis Chester to graduation.

No. 8 Galena moves on to play No. 1 Reno (16-0 in Class 5A league play) Wednesday at Reno at 6:30 p.m.
