During a special session Jan. 10, the Fallon City Council approved liquor licenses and a parcel split. The council also accepted Mayor Ken Tedford’s lists of recommended appointments of officers for the city and appointments to the various city boards.

Four businesses submitted applications for a liquor license. The mayor took a moment to emphasize that this license was only for the authorization to sell liquor and was not a cabaret or live performance license, or a license to sell food. There were no public comments. The council unanimously approved new or renewed liquor licenses for The Wok Chinese Restaurant with Sushi, Safeway, Bottle & Brie and The Peak.

Parcel number 001-301-04 at 1325 Rancho Drive, was unanimously approved for a split after some discussion and a question from Councilwoman Kelly Frost about precedents in splitting parcels in this neighborhood.

Tedford read his list of recommended appointments of officers, confirmation of salaries and appointments to the various city boards into the record. Frost commented that Tedford had put together an “outstanding” list of officers and all were unanimously approved by the council.

On Jan. 9 Tedford, Frost and Councilman Tom Harmon congratulated the Churchill County Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team on becoming the Sagebrush League Boys Basketball Champions. The team dyed the fountain green on Maine Street and then rode through town on a fire truck.
