The Lahontan Valley News and Nevada News Group welcome Sara Dowling as government and business reporter.

Dowling is a Fallon native and a Churchill County High School graduate. She also graduated from Western Nevada College in 2018 with an associate of arts degree in graphic communications.

Dowling’s focus will be on the city of Fallon, Churchill County School District, Oasis Academy and Churchill County businesses. She loves God, her family, words, music and serving her hometown Fallon community through writing. She may be contacted at fallonnewspaper@yahoo.com.

Editor Emeritus Steve Ranson, who retired in July 2017 but still contributes to the LVN and the Nevada News Group, said Dowling will be an asset to the LVN and its readers who have a strong interest in local government and education.

“Sara has a gift of writing and a strong interest and love for Fallon,” Ranson added. “We’re lucky to have her report on news from both Fallon and the county.”

Ranson is concentrating more of his news coverage on the area’s military and veterans’ activities and the county commission. Ranson, who has been involved with community newspapers for more than 40 years, has been invited by the Nevada Army National Guard to visit the 137th Military Police Co., in Romania next week. The MPs include soldiers from throughout Northern Nevada.
