A Friday afternoon crash involving an SUV and semi-trailer truck claimed the life of a Fallon woman.

Fallon Police Chief Ron Wenger identified the driver of the SUV as 60-year-old Dixi Montooth. According to her Facebook page, Montooth is the owner/cosmetologist at The Electric Chairs Salon.

Wenger released preliminary information on the crash. He said FPD received a report of the collision at 2:30 p.m. He said the SUV was traveling eastbound on Williams Avenue at a high-rate speed and, for an unknown reason, the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and slammed into the semi. Wenger said the semi was turning westbound onto Williams Avenue.

In addition to the FPD, the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control and the Nevada State Police’s Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team is investigating. Wenger said the report will include the vehicle’s actual speed and other information pertinent to the investigation.

Wenger said a medical examiner also will initiate an examination.
