Teeter, a 6-month-old Australian Cattle dog, won this year’s Carson’s Cutest Companion contest.
Margie Quirk, former owner of Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, adopted Teeter from Branded Outlaw Cattle Dogs in Reno in April. Quirk describes Teeter’s personality as she takes after any typical cattle dog.
“She has the tendency to be very mouthy,” Quirk said.
While every puppy has a favorite toy, Teeter’s is a big stuffed pink pony. She also loves to play in the water. And of course, as all cattle dogs are known for, she likes to herd. Quirk said Teeter likes to herd a large ball that horses usually play with.
Teeter earned more than 300 votes to win the contest. Teeter and Quirk won a gift package valued at more than $300.
The contest is hosted by the Nevada Appeal and sponsored by Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning and SoL Cannabis.
Dirk Roper, owner of Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning, also has pets at home himself. Roper owns a 7-year-old mini–Australian Shepherd, Layla, and two Siberian cats, Boris and Natasha.
“I think it’s a fun thing that can bring Carson City residents together. I like community things,” Roper said about sponsoring the contest.
The contest asked readers of the nevadaappeal.com to upload their pet’s photos. After a nomination period, a two-week voting period took place, which Teeter came out victorious.
