The Carson City Symphony will open its 41st season at 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 with a concert at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William St.
The concert, "A Bit of Vienna and Beyond," will open with Beethoven's Coriolan Overture and features guest soloist Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio in Franz Schubert's Konzertstück for violin and orchestra and two pieces by Fritz Kreisler.
To complete the program, the orchestra will play Borodin's In the Steppes of Central Asia, and Berlioz's Corsair Overture.
General admission tickets are $18; $15 for seniors, students, and members; and free for youth 18 and under. Tickets are on sale online at CCSymphony.com or at the door. “Flex” tickets at discounted prices are also available at CCSymphony.com.
Pre-show entertainment by the Carson Middle School advanced orchestra conducted by assistant conductor Brian Fox begins at 3 p.m. in the lobby.
A meet-the-soloist concert preview with conductors David Bugli and Fox and soloist Sant'Ambrogio begins at 3:15 p.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room.
The 2024-25 concert season is supported with public funding through the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, Carson City, and by private donations. The concert preview is supported by Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
