Highlights for Churchill County High School's upcoming Homecoming week include:
The student body will kick off Monday with dress-up theme “Music Genre” and a parade on Maine Street at 5:30 p.m. The powderpuff football game between the junior and senior girls is at 6:30 p.m. at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex with a $5 entry fee. The day will conclude with a bonfire after the game.
On Tuesday, the dress-up theme is “Class War Decades Day” with freshmen in 1970s fashion, sophomores in 1980s clothes, juniors in looks from the 2000s and seniors wearing 1990s fads. It is also “Catch Up Day,” meaning no events are scheduled.
Wednesday students will wear pink and orange in support of CCHS student LeAnne Wallace and Child Cancer Awareness Month. The event of the day is a lip sync battle at 7 p.m. in the CCHS auditorium. Entry fee is $5 with a student identification card.
Thursday is “White Lies Day” with students wearing plain white T-shirts with little white lies about themselves written on them. A pep assembly is scheduled for 9 a.m. Movie night at the Fallon Theatre, for CCHS students only, begins at 6:30 p.m. with a free showing of the movies “Legally Blonde” and “Hairspray.” Snacks will be available for purchase from the concessions area.
Friday’s school day dress-up theme is “Rhyme Without Reason,” which changes into “Camouflage” for the homecoming football game that night. The game begins at 7 p.m. at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex with the crowning of the king and queen held at halftime. Also during halftime, representatives from T-Mobile will present the $5,000 CCHS won in its “Friday Night Lights” sweepstakes. The nationwide wireless network operator will also give away swag items including thundersticks, T-shirts and stadium seats.
The festivities conclude Saturday with the “Dancing Through the Decades” dance from 8:30-10:30 p.m. in the CCHS auxiliary gym. Tickets are $10 for CCHS students and $15 for guests and are available at lunchtime. All tickets will be $20 at the door.
