Bark in Park seeks vendors, sponsors

Walk a mile for P.E.O.

The Fallon Chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization invites the public to a one-mile history walk April 13 beginning at 4:30 p.m. behind the Fallon Theatre.

A $20 donation includes participation in the walk, a hotdog dinner with all of the fixings and a one-hour comedy video shown on the theatre’s big screen. Proceeds benefit P.E.O. projects.


Fallon Elks Club

St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage is March 23 beginning at 5 p.m.

Cost is $15 and $7 for 12 and under.

Fallon Elks Lodge is located at 93 W. Center St.


Learn to quilt

Have you always wanted to learn to quilt, but didn’t know where to start? Or have you been wanting to start sewing again, but didn’t know where to start?

Now’s your chance – it’s quilting time at the museum.

The ‘My Kinda Town’ Block-of-the-Month class will be held every third Wednesday each month. By the end of nine months, you’ll have a 42″x54″ paper-pieced quilt top.

Taught by Workman’s Quilting Instructor Joey Brown, these classes are open to all experience levels: learn, review, and perfect your quilting skills. All quality fabric will be provided by Workman Farms. Only $25 per month for CCMA members/$30 for non-members – pay in full and the pattern is free: a $25.00 savings.

Cantaloupe Festival design contest

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair and we have a contest for you.

We are looking for two different T-shirt designs to commemorate this year's 40th anniversary: an exclusive volunteer shirt and an event shirt. Submissions may be digital, drawn or painted, but must include the following somewhere in the design: Fallon Cantaloupe Festival, 2025, 40th anniversary or 40th year or 40 years and Est. 1985.

Entries must be received no later than May 16. Include your name, a parent name (if underage), and a contact number on the back of the submission or on a sticky note attached. The winners will receive a family four-pack of passes and four shirts.

Entries may be dropped off at the following locations: Fallon Chamber (290 W. Williams Ave.); or Financial Horizons Credit Union (2711 Reno Hwy.)


Churchill County Library

Help us welcome spring in April at the Churchill County Library and enjoy programming, books, online resources and more.

A reminder that all library programming is free and open to the public.

 For children:

• “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” encourages youngsters to read books before entering school. Recognition given for every 100 books read on the way to 1,000! Sign-ups accepted at any time at: bit.ly/CCL1000BBK.

• Reading with Rover takes place on April 10 at 3:30 p.m. Come practice your reading skills on the best listeners and keep the book you choose to read! Geared to ages 6-11, but all are welcome.

• STEAM sessions every Friday at 1:30 p.m. Choose from science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities that vary from week to week. Geared to kids ages six through 11, but all are welcome.

Fallon Rotary

Fallon Rotary Club is looking for volunteers for some upcoming events, namely the golf tournament, bingo and the centennial party.

Bingo: Bingo 2025-What a Circus! The Fallon Rotary Club hopes you can join us on Friday, April 25 at the Pennington Life Center on 952 S. Maine Street starting at 5 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo play starts at 6 p.m.

A $20 buy-in includes pack of five games of three Bingo cards and a Dauber. Additional game packs at $10 each and a 50/50 raffle.

Proceeds will go to benefit local youth scholarships and youth leadership programs.

Greenwave QB Club

The Greenwave Quarterback Club is seeking volunteers to join the organization.

The Greenwave Quarterback Club helps the Churchill County High school football team by overseeing multiple fundraising events including a golf tournament and catering. The funds raised help support the football program, varsity dinners and the snack bar and also provide meals for double days.

Fernley Republican Women

The Fernley Republican Women will meet at the Fernley Senior Center, 105 Lois Lane, Fernley, on April 15.

A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, who will update FRW about what’s happening in Washington, D.C.

The FRW’s Caring for America Program collects non-perishable foods for the Fernley Food Bank and the Armed Forces/Homeland Security Program collects cleaning supplies, food and personal care items, along with donations of funds, for the Veterans Guest House in Reno.

All contributions for these important programs will be greatly appreciated. Financial contributions can be sent to the FRW at P. O. Box 412, Fernley, NV 89408.

PACC spring musical

The Performing Arts of Churchill County presents the foot-stompin' hit Broadway musical “Pump Boys and Dinettes.”

The full-length country western musical features Summer Stanton and Adia Finch sharing the role of Rhetta Cupp and Melissa Derby as her sister, Prudie, singing and dancing at the Double Cupp Diner. Byron Sorensen, Jake Coval, Kenny Coval, Mick Penick and Tom Fleming play the musically talented pump boys from the gas station next door.

Showings are scheduled at The Fallon Theatre for April 25 and 26 and May 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. with matinees on April 26 and May 9 at 1 p.m.

Additional showings will also be held at The Brewery Arts Auditorium in Carson City and the Dini Cultural Center in Yerington.

Greenwave Hall of Fame

Nominations are now being accepted until May 31 for the Greenwave Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Categories for this year include teams, athletes, coaches and supporters of Greenwave athletics. The date for this year’s induction is Sept. 27 at the Fallon Convention Center.

Pennington Life Center

Plenty of good eats at the Pennington Life Center: All are welcome to partake. Lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays. Cost is $6 for those under age 60 and a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and older.
