High school artists’ exhibit at the Brick through May 15

Forty-three students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Whittell high schools have work in the Spring Forward art exhibition at the Brick.

The exhibit presents an array of projects based on students’ years of classroom study and craftsmanship. Spring Forward, a Capital City Arts Initiative student show, is in the Community Development Building (the Brick), 108 E. Proctor St., through May 15.

The Brick is open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to noon, and 1-4 p.m. An exhibition video tour with artists’ interviews will be online soon. Spring Forward includes a variety of art media including ceramics, drawing, painting and photography pieces.

Carson High’s participating students are Ashton Benenati, Madison Clozier, Abigayle Coulam, Khia Dunbar, Sebastian Goodwin, Braelyn Heckman, Vincent Heckman, Joshua Lopez, Alex Martinez, Keboa Mitchell, Tien Nguyen, Zarahi Orozco, Keani Rizo, Abril Rodriquez, Angel Vega, Mable Wacker, Pebble Wiggins, and Adam Zoghra-Awali. These students worked with teachers Alisa Kuniya, Karen McCraw, and Matt Theilen.

Participating students from Dayton High include Amanda Biggin, Isabellerose Bishop, Delaney Buchanan, Alina Coyle, Arianna Gutierrez, Savannah Hernandez, Maycen Hutcheson, and Julia Iosefa, all who studied art with teacher Malaynia Wick.

Douglas High’s students include Kylee Barron, Zoe Becker, JJ Bilotta, Elissa Violet Dumlao, Madison Duffy, Ellee Ferguson, Kiley Girdner, Mia Hamilton, Sydney McCulloch, Molly Mortensen, Grace Reiner, Cesar Monterrey Rosales, and Mari Stone. Their teachers are Kelley Yost, Zoe Shorten, and Micki Dixon.

Whittell High School’s participating students are Lily Davis, Alyssa Edie, Marisol Layla Santana, Caroline Schilling, India Smith-Vargas. They worked with teacher Paul Lorion.

This show is another in CCAIs ongoing series of student exhibitions in the Brick.
