The Carson High School boys and girls swim teams fell to Spanish Springs over the weekend in a head-to-head matchup.

On the boys side, Spanish Springs won the matchup 158-85.

Adam Zoghra-Awali won the 100-yard fly in 59.37 and the 100-yard freestyle in 54.46.

Zoghra-Awali was a part Carson’s first-place 400-yard freestyle relay team, which also includes Leif Morway, Asa Morway and Samson Massie. The foursome posted a 3:30.99.

On the girls side, Carson fell 197-73.

Hannah Ingram won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.20 while Gloria Dooley took the top spot in the 100-yard fly in 1:13.79.

Ingram was also the quickest swimmer in the 200 individual medley, recording a 2:25.06.

The Senators’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ingram, Dooley, Addison Meyer and Chloe Clark took first with a mark of 1:59.26.

CARSON BASEBALL GRABS WIN OVER ENTERPRISE

Carson High baseball claimed a 17-3 win in five innings over Enterprise in a tournament this weekend.

Carson scored six runs in the first and six runs in the fifth.

Noah Hutchison went 1-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Sophomore Cruz Gonzales and senior Tyler LaFollette both recorded two RBIs.

Chase Grundy, Lucas LaFollette and Tyler LaFollette all had two hits.

On the mound, Will Raggett threw five innings with six strikeouts and one earned run.

UP NEXT: Carson (6-15, 2-9 in Class 5A North league play) will play four non-league games this week in a tournament.


DAYTON SOFTBALL FALLS TO FERNLEY

Fernley High (13-6, 5-4 in Class 3A North-East league play) swept Dayton softball (10-14 1-8) in a three-game series.

Fernley took the Friday opener, 5-1, before winning both ends of the Saturday doubleheader, 6-2 and 13-3.

The Dust Devils tallied two hits in game one.

In game two, LaSade Conti pelted a home run, recording both of the Dust Devils’ RBIs. She struck out 10 while pitching, but allowed 12 hits.

Senior Alexis Munoz recorded both of Dayton’s RBIs in the final game, going 2-for-3. Senior Charlie Stevens also put together a 2-for-3 day.

UP NEXT: Dayton will play a three-game league series at Elko (12-11, 2-6) this weekend. Friday will be game one with a doubleheader Saturday.


VAQUEROS BEST DAYTON BASEBALL

Fernley High School baseball (6-13-1, 3-6 in Class 3A North-East league play) swept Dayton (8-11, 1-8) this weekend, 11-8, 4-2 and 10-3.

Jacob Jeffcoat had a pair of RBIs for Dayton in game one while Ivor Evans was also credited with an RBI.

In game two, Duke Evans threw all seven innings on the mound, allowing seven hits and three earned runs.

Villiami Tulimafua-Curran scored Dayton’s runs in the second game.

In game three, Jeffcoat knocked in another two RBIs while Ryan Frank drove in a run as well.

UP NEXT: Dayton will travel to Elko (12-11, 6-3) for a three-game league series.


SIERRA LUTHERAN STEALS A WIN FROM BATTLE MOUNTAIN

After dropping the first two games (3-2 and 9-3) of a three-game series against Battle Mountain, Sierra Lutheran (5-13-1, 3-12 in Class 2A North league play) put together a 9-3 win in the final game.

In the win, the Falcons scored the first nine runs in large part due to a 4-for-5 day at the plate from junior Anton Granata, who knocked in four RBIs on his four hits and recorded a double.

Grayson Ricks, Noah Ramirez and Shiloh Rittweger each tallied an RBI. Ricks struck out seven in 5.2 innings.

Drew Gleiser had both RBIs in the Falcons’ 3-2 loss to open the series. Freshman Shaun Castro struck out 11 hitters in six innings while allowing four hits.

Game two, Gleiser and Matt Fahey each had an RBI in the 9-3 loss.

UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran hosted Incline (4-10, 4-10) on Tuesday before traveling to Incline for a doubleheader on Thursday.
