The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will hold an open house April 30 for the U.S. 50 East Carson Complete Street Corridor Study.

The open house is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, Bonanza Room, located at 851 E. William St.

Complete Streets is a model for transportation planning that calls for pedestrian safety improvements and multimodal pathways, such as found on South Carson Street or the improvements currently underway on East William Street.

“The purpose of the corridor study is to better understand transportation needs and concerns along U.S. 50, including those related to safety, traffic congestion, business access, and pedestrian and bicycle accommodations,” transportation officials said in a news release. “The public is invited to attend this open house to learn about and provide feedback on draft concepts and recommendations proposed as part of the corridor study.”

A brief presentation will be held at 5:15 p.m. to provide a short summary on the status and next steps of the project. The corridor study limits are along the highway between the I-580 interchange in Carson City and State Route 341 in Mound House.

Funded by the Nevada Department of Transportation, phase 1 of the study was completed in July of last year.

“Carson City and CAMPO value your feedback about this important corridor in our community and encourage your attendance,” the release said.

For those who can’t make the presentation, the materials will be available at CarsonAreaMPO.com.
