WNC continues partnership with SkillUp

Students and community members rely on Western Nevada College for resources to enhance their educational and professional careers.

WNC has another tool in its tool chest to help individuals: SkillUp. This career-driven platform assists and supports job seekers as they explore employment opportunities.

This partnership with SkillUp has enabled WNC to provide coaching services, guiding students to training programs and classes through the college, as well as other institutions.

Coaching services provide skills, including resumé building, interview preparation and networking strategies. These services equip individuals with the knowledge, tools and confidence to succeed in the job market.

Fortunately for WNCs students and community, Western’s partnership with SkillUp will continue into the future. SkillUp provides students with:

• Access to more than 25,000 job listings

• Tailored career pathways with detailed wage projections

• Free account creation, enabling users to develop personalized profiles

• Comprehensive support, including online coaching and training resources

Construction students assist Genoa city manager with project

Construction project management students were at it again on a recent Saturday, using their talents to help community members. They volunteered to build an office wall for Genoa City Manager Jody Brunz in a city building.

Students Ruben Renteria, Austin Feise, Don Connor and Jeff Poeschel and WNC Construction Project Management Professor Nigel Harrison built a 12-foot tall by 16-foot-wide non-load bearing wall with a French door and window.

They also drywalled, taped and textured the wall, which divided an office into two spaces. In February, construction students helped senior residents at Solista Carson with repairs and improvements to their apartments.
