The elements forced Carson High’s Varsity Invite on Saturday to conclude a bit prematurely.
In the events that did compete, Sawyer Macy won the 1,600 and 3,200 in 4:37.02 and 10:25.70, respectively.
Seth Chalmers and Quinn Kuchnicki were second and fifth in the 3,200 for the Senators. Kuchnicki was fourth in the 1,600 in 4:41.30.
Kekoa Mitchell won the discus with a throw of 137-10.
The Senator boys 4x100 relay team of Sylis Chalmers, Luke Davis, Zackery Eaton and Mitchell finished third in 47.64.
On the girls side, Allison Peachay was third in the 800 in a personal record of 2:35.20.
Junior Vea Miner took second in the 1,600 in 5:41.41
Mara Kuchnicki was third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.84 while Madison Krueger was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 51.70. Krueger won the triple jump with a leap of 31-9.75 and PR’d in the long jump with a leap of 14-7.25 to take sixth.
Anne Davis, Kuchnicki, Saule Astronomo and Peachay won the 4x100 in 53.13.
In the 4x800 relay, Hannah Budd, Miner, Nastasia Sulprizio and Brianna Rodriguez-Nunez were third in 10:40.82.
Julie Salanoa had a season-best in the shotput – 32 feet, 5 inches – to take second place.
MINER, THORNTON RUN IN SACRAMENTO
Carson High’s Alex Miner and Sean Thornton went over the Sierra this weekend to take part in the Sacramento Meet of Champions.
Miner, a senior, competed in the 3,200 with a personal record of 9:35.76, taking ninth out of 29 runners.
Thornton, a junior, recorded a 9:36.75 to take 11th and also set a PR.

SENATOR SOFTBALL SLAMS MCQUEEN
The Carson High softball team (8-10-1, 4-6 in Class 5A North league play) defeated McQueen (15-12, 6-6) on Thursday, 10-5.
The Senators trailed 3-0 through five innings but exploded for 10 runs in the sixth inning behind two grand slams.
Sofia Morrison launched a one-out grand slam to left field to put the Senators in front, 4-3.
Carson had two more runs score on walks before Cali Stagliano belted a grand slam to left field.
Rhys Branham went 3-for-3 with a run scored in the win while Jordan Brubaker scored twice and recorded a hit.
Maddie Blanchard-Salazar allowed two earned runs in the circle alongside five strikeouts.
UP NEXT: Carson will close out its regular season this week at home against Damonte Ranch (5-13, 3-7) on Thursday before a doubleheader at home against Douglas (18-7, 9-3) on Saturday.
SENATOR BASEBALL LOSES TO MCQUEEN
Carson High baseball (8-19, 2-11 in Class 5A North league play) fell to the McQueen Lancers (12-14-1, 7-7) on Thursday, 13-6.
Tyler LaFollette and Ethan Cook recorded multi-hit performances and both knocked in an RBI.
Lucas LaFollette and Kodie Campbell each had an RBI.
The two teams were tied at 5 after three innings, but six runs on the bottom of the fourth allowed the Lancers to jump ahead.
UP NEXT: Carson, who is locked into the 8-9 regional play-in game, will close its regular season at home Tuesday and Wednesday against Galena (12-9, 7-6) and Bishop Manogue (20-6, 11-2).
LOWRY TAKES 2-OF-3 FROM DAYTON BASEBALL
Lowry High baseball (12-14, 7-8 in Class 3A North league play) took the first two games from Dayton (11-14, 4-11) this weekend by final scores of 17-2 and 12-10.
The Dust Devils took the third game, 7-5.
In the win, Ivor Evans recorded two hits, including a double.
Travis Gardner and Austin Coltrin were each credited with an RBI.
UP NEXT: Dayton did not qualify for the Class 3A North region playoffs, concluding its regular season.
BUCKAROOS SWEEP DUST DEVIL SOFTBALL
The Dayton High softball season (10-20, 1-14 Class 3A North league play) came to an end this weekend after Lowry swept the Dust Devils in a three-game series, 5-0, 12-5 and 6-2.
Junior LaSade Conti ended her season with a team-best .560 batting average to go along with 10 doubles, four triples, a home run and 21 RBIs. She also stole 18 bases.
In the circle, Conti threw 89.1 innings and struck out 145 batters.
Sophomore Macie Hannum ended the spring with a .350 batting average and 15 RBIs, which were the third most on the team.
Senior Alexis Munoz was second in RBIs with 20.
MUSTANG BASEBALL SWEEPS FALCONS
Pershing County (8-16, 6-14 in Class 2A North league play) beat Sierra Lutheran (7-17-1, 5-16) last Tuesday 3-1 before finishing off the series sweep with wins of 12-1 and 6-1 in Thursday’s doubleheader.
In the final two games of the series, Shaun Castro and Grayson Ricks were each credited with an RBI.
UP NEXT: The Falcons conclude their regular season with a three-game series against Yerington (22-3, 18-3). The first game was Tuesday while Saturday will feature a doubleheader.
