The Carson High School girls basketball team held onto a halftime lead to down Galena on Friday, 48-40.
CHS led 25-12 at the half and used that to secure their fourth league win of the season.
Galena’s Julia Imse led the Grizzlies with 12 points while Mia Turner added 10 more.

GALENA BOYS STIFLE CARSON
After a competitive tilt against Reed in the middle of last week, Carson High School boys basketball struggled against Galena on Friday night.
The Senators trailed 51-14 at the end of the third quarter before falling 57-30.
Galena’s Gavin Talonen led the team with 16 points while Ben Imse tallied 10 of his own.
Carson stats were unavailable.
UP NEXT: Carson (7-17, 2-12) traveled to Bishop Manogue (14-10, 10-5) Tuesday before finishing off the regular season with Senior Night at home Friday against Douglas (11-11, 8-6).
ISAAC ERVIN QUALIFIES FOR STATE WRESTLING
Dayton High School wrestling had a lone competitor qualify for the Class 3A state tournament in Fallon this coming weekend.
Isaac Ervin earned a spot at state with a fourth place finish at the Class 3A North regional tournament at 190 pounds.
Ervin won his opening match by pin in 1:07 before picking up a 17-15 decision win in the quarterfinal.
His first loss of the day came in the semis in 1:41, but Ervin responded with a pin in 3:20 to make the third place match.
Ultimately, the Dust Devil grappler lost by pin in the third place contest, but will get to wrestle on the final weekend of the season at the Class 3A state tournament.
Ervin’s finish earned Dayton 16 team points. As a whole, the Dust Devils scored 30 points.
At 157 pounds, Cash Schneider went 2-3 to finish in sixth place and earn 11 team points.
DAYTON BOYS FALL TO ELKO
Dayton couldn’t hold serve against Elko (10-11, 4-5) this past Friday, falling on its home floor by a final of 42-29.
Statistics were unavailable.
No score was reported for the Dayton girls basketball game against Elko.
UP NEXT: The Dust Devil boys basketball team (14-6, 4-4) is back in action Wednesday at home against Fallon (12-11, 1-7). Friday, Dayton caps its regular season with a home game against Lowry (7-13, 2-6).
FALCONS LOSE TO BATTLE MOUNTAIN
Sierra Lutheran boys basketball (6-14, 4-11) fell against Battle Mountain (16-6, 12-4) this past weekend, 63-39.
Statistics for the boys contest were unavailable.
On the girls side, the Falcons (4-13, 4-12) lost to Battle Mountain (17-5, 12-4) by a 44-9 final score.
Noel White and Chloe Friend had four points apiece for Sierra Lutheran in the loss.
UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran will host Portola at home today before traveling to Pershing County on Friday night.
