Fallon sent one to the podium while placing in the top half as a team in one of the toughest Idaho tournaments last weekend.
The Greenwave finished 38th out of 93 teams in the Rollie Lane Boys Invitational at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
Fallon, which traveled Tuesday to Fernley for a dual, will stay within the state again when the varsity boys and girls compete at the Steave Deaton Memorial at Douglas High School on Saturday. The JV boys will compete in Carson.
Carson Melendy (150 pounds) won his first four matches to set up a battle in the semifinal round against American Falls’ Nathan Gugelman II. Melendy, who won three of his first four by major decision, lost by a major decision, 12-3, in the semifinal before falling in the consolation semifinals. Melendy, though, scored a tech fall, 19-4, over La Pine’s Devon Kerr to finish fifth.
Tyson Wilson (285) won three straight in the consolation round after falling in his first bout. He decisioned a pair of opponents, 8-4 and 7-4, but fell in the consolation’s fifth round.
Braylon Byrd (98) finished 2-2, including notching a tech fall in the championship and a fall in the consolation’s fourth round. Evan Garcia (126) also won twice, both by fall, before being eliminated in the consolation’s second round. Lonnie Adams (138) won a couple bouts, both by fall, in the consolation bracket.
Manuel Barros (113) finished 1-2 after opening the tournament with a win by fall. Andre Green (132) also won once when he scored a major decision (17-8) in the consolation’s first round. Colton Blankenship (190) won his first bout by fall, before falling in his next two.
Evan Mackuliak (120), Manuel Karaway (157), Wyatt Lambert (165) and Jason Lewis (215) each finished 0-2.
Fallon also had wrestlers competing in the Sparks Invitational at Sparks High on Friday and Saturday.
Trey Bradley (120) and Matthew Bird (165) each placed fourth while Collin Werle (113) finished sixth. For the girls, Tommie Fitzer (135) finished second.
Bradley won his first three bouts by fall to advance to the semifinal round where he fell in the first period. After scoring a tech fall in the consolation semifinal, Bradley was pinned in the third-place match.
Bird won his first two before falling in the quarterfinal. Bird proceeded to pin his next two opponents before scoring a 7-0 decision in the consolation semifinal. Bird fell in the third-place match.
Despite falling in his first two bouts, Werle received a bye and clinched fifth by winning via medical forfeit.
Fitzer won her first two matches by fall but fell to Coral Academy’s Shyann Martinez in her only loss. She followed up by pinning Reed’s Evelynn Hendrix to take second.
