SEPTEMBER

• The Fallon Lions Club holds its annual Labor Day Parade.

• City of Fallon remembers 9/11 at the courtyard behind city hall.

• U.S. Postal Service scraps plans to move distribution center from Reno to Sacramento.

• Stepping Stones Youth Shelter risks closing.

• Small. Business forum held at the Fallon Convention Center.

• Warriors on the field shield unveiled for the University of Nevada football team.

• Homecoming week is in full swing, capping with the football game and crowing of royalty during halftime of the Fallon-Truckee football game.

• Greenwave Hall of Fame inducts newest class with former athlete Don Lattin as guest speaker.

• Cars line up for downtown Fallon’s annual Show n’ Shine

• Nevada National Guard adds static display to Mustang 22, a helicopter that was shot down over Afghanistan in 2005.

• Annual Jim Regan golf tournament held at the Fallon Golf Course.

• Ranchers for Trump Rally held near the end of the month.


OCTOBER

• Fallon grad Bret Lynch returns to Reno as a member of the Blue Angels ground crew.

• City, county support Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

• Congressman Mark Amodei addresses county commission.

• Early voting begins in Nevada and in Churchill County.

• Historical spirits visit the Fallon Theatre.

• City council votes to fund street maintenance

• October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

• Maj. Gen. Ondra Berry, the state’s adjutant general, retires.

• Juvenile outreach position is approved at a county commission meeting.

• City council discusses Laura Mills Park improvements.

•. Local groups participate in the Nevada Day parade in Carson City.

• Spooktacular gives Halloween a special touch in Fallon.

• Sagebrush League champs recognized.

• FFA members attend national convention in Indianapolis.

NOVEMBER

• Local veterans receive Quilts of Valor.

• Sage Academy Preschool has is grand opening.

• Transformational funding approved for Churchill County improvements.

• Jera Reidenbach, a seven-year county employee, was selected the new county building official.

• Churchill County celebrates the area’s veterans.

 • County voters go to the polls. Wyoming Sen. John Barasso visits Fallon to campaign for Sam Brown, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Nevada.

• Charles Sehe, who serves on the USS Nevada battleship during World War II, dies.

• The local American Legion post and community volunteers prepare and deliver meals to the area’s senior residents.

• November is Native American Heritage Month.

• Shop Small Saturday promotes the local merchants during the holiday shopping season.

• The Churchill County School Board recognized Churchill County High School students for their achievement.


DECEMBER

• Don and Dawna Audrain Johnson were guest of honor to push the plunger switch and light the downtown Christmas tree.

• A 71-year-old Fallon man was arrested and charged with the murder of his 40-year-old wife whose buried body was discovered in their backyard.

• Joseph Frey was appointed to the Churchill County Planning Commission to fill an unexpired term to Dec. 31, 2026.

• The Churchill County School District is applying for a grant for a Farm to School program after meeting its stakeholders.

• Churchill County School District Trustee Matt Hyde, Work-Based Learning, Coordinator Sue Segura and Administrative Clerical Aide Selena Gomes received individual awards at the annual Nevada Association of School Boards conference on Dec. 7 at Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort.

• Fallon’s American Legion Fred W. Anderson Post16 and community volunteers prepare and deliver Christmas meals to senior citizens

• The city’s new deputy public works director is Erik Fain.

• Bull riding and fireworks send off New Year’s Eve at the Rafter 3C Complex.
