LCSO arrests non-compliant Tier 3 sexual offender

On Jan. 24, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) received information regarding a possible out-of-compliance Tier 3 sexual offender residing in the Yerington area. Members of the LCSO Sex Offender Task Force, in collaboration with deputies from the Southern Command Patrol Division, conducted an investigation and contacted 73-year-old Yerington resident Cody Kenneth Smith.

Authorities confirmed that Smith, a registered sexual offender, was in violation of his registration requirements. Smith was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail on one felony count of violating sexual offender registration requirements.

The LCSO Sex Offender Task Force is dedicated to ensuring all sexual offenders residing in Lyon County comply with their registration requirements. The task force routinely and proactively contacts registered sexual offenders to verify compliance, underscoring its commitment to public safety. These efforts play a vital role in maintaining the well-being of Lyon County residents.
