Letter: Save Nevada public lands

Many Nevadans know that U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., tried to sell off thousands of acres of public Nevada land to help fund the tax cuts for the wealthiest folks (most of whom don’t live in Nevada).

What you may not know is that this proposal was stripped from the budget reconciliation after a member of the GOP refused to vote in favor of the entire thing if that public land sale was included.

They needed EVERY last GOP vote for it to go through, so they had to remove that Nevada land sale. The hero that saved our Nevada public lands? MONTANA Rep. Ryan Zinke. Isn’t it interesting that we can’t rely on OUR elected House representative to preserve OUR lands?

Another fascinating thing is that I emailed and called Amodei several times to discuss this issue, and I never got a response.

Yet when I called and emailed Zinke’s office to thank him for standing up for Nevada when none of the proposed land sale was even in his state, I got a response within the hour with more information about how Zinke prioritizes conservation across the West.

Wow, it must be so nice to have an engaged and responsive representative in the House. Anyway, I hope Nevadans remember how quick Amodei was to sell us out when it comes time to vote.
