Churchill Animal Protection Society’s annual “Bark in the Park” is Friday and Saturday at the 3C Event Complex, 325 Sheckler Road in Fallon.
The nonprofit, no-kill animal care center has expanded the event to two days of fun for humans and their doggie besties. Leashed dogs are welcome to participate in all events.
A cooler evening 5K fun run/walk starts Friday at 7 p.m. with check-in and registration beginning at 6:15 p.m. There is no entry fee to shop at the vendor booths from 5-9 p.m., including Handmade Treasures by Paula and TBone Chimes and More. Live music from Acid Box begins at 6 p.m.
On Saturday vendor booths are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Puppy yoga is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and band Leeteville Junction will take the stage from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Both days also include food trucks, bounce houses and other childrens’ activities and a raffle as well as treats, wading pools and contests for the dogs. Cocktails, wine and beer will be available from the Elks Lodge members’ booth.
Proceeds from its biggest fundraiser of the year go toward supplies, food, veterinary care, shelter upkeep and repairs at CAPS. The facility’s current residents are in need of puppy formula, puppy food and both wet and dry kitten food donations. Last year’s donation drive at “Bark in the Park” collected blankets, dog beds and about 350 pounds of food that was split between CAPS and Fallon Animal Shelter.
