Giving thanks to the Chamber Leadership group
As a Carson High School teacher and community member, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Carson City Chamber Leadership group for the incredible gift they’ve given to our school — the new ticket office at Carson High School.
For years, the old ticket booth was a rundown eyesore. Thanks to the vision and dedication of this year’s Chamber Leadership class, that has changed.
They saw a need, took action, and created something beautiful that will benefit CHS and the entire community for years to come.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of many local businesses and donors. Special thanks to Ridgeline Development (Sam Landis, CHS alumni), Nevada Fence, Ridgeline Framing, F&P Construction (CHS alumni), Newt Construction (CHS alumni), the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation, and CINC Industries.
A special thank you to Amber LaFollette and Justin Tierney (both CHS alumni) for their countless hours as project leaders. Their dedication, alongside the entire leadership team, was truly inspiring.
Thank you for your vision, your generosity, and your commitment to leaving a lasting impact on our community.

Idling your car: Bad for your car, bad for your kids
Idling cars produce all sorts of nasty gases. They contribute to air pollution, smog, particulate pollution and more.
They create hot spots of air pollution everywhere idling happens. These toxic gases are common around schools, daycare centers, athletic fields and in driveways where people idle their cars! Some even idle while running the AC or heat with the windows open.
The air around idling cars increases is toxic. Breathing it in raises the risks for asthma, lung cancer, and heart disease for all of us but especially for our children.
Idling your car is not good for the car either, your car may have more problems with starter function and engine wear with a need for more frequent oil changes.
A small truck will use a gallon of diesel if it idles for an hour, a car 1/5 of a gallon — it’s like burning money. Idling for 10 seconds uses more fuel than restarting the engine. It’s time to stop using your remote start fob and just start the car when you get in.
You too can make the air we breathe safer. Stop the idle!
