Douglas High School alumna Talia Tretton fires a pitch for the University of Iowa this spring. Tretton had a 3.39 ERA in 119.2 innings, recording 96 strikeouts.
Talia Tretton, the two-time Nevada Gatorade softball Player of the Year announced her new school on social media Tuesday, posting that she will be joining the Nevada Wolf Pack’s softball program.
Talia Tretton, a 2024 Douglas High School alumna, spent her freshman season with the University of Iowa, but announced she was entering the transfer portal June 2.
In her true freshman campaign, the two-way star earned made her presence felt in the Big Ten.
In the circle, she hurled 122.1 innings of work while putting together a 3.32 ERA in 28 appearances.
Tretton recorded 21 starts and finished the 2024-25 season with 97 strikeouts to 61 walks.
When she wasn’t pitching, Tretton was playing first base. At the plate, the Hawkeye freshman hit .173 with two home runs and 25 RBIs. One of her two long balls was a grand slam, which she hit against Michigan State.
Tretton finished the season with 17 hits, four of which were doubles alongside one triple. She drew 22 walks and struck out 27 times, finishing the season with a .323 on-base percentage.
While at Douglas High School, Tretton helped guide the Tigers to the program’s first state title in 30 years, earning the 2023 Class 5A state championship crown.
She was named the Class 5A North Player of the Year in three consecutive seasons from her sophomore through senior seasons.
