Fallon Rodeo Club qualifies seven for Junior National Rodeo

Several Fallon cowboys and cowgirls qualified for the national rodeo finals, which begins next week with the juniors division.

After finishing in the top four of last month’s state rodeo finals in Winnemucca, Stella Lee, Clayton Hiibel, Stix Lee, Megan Allison, Rostin Snow, Zachary Greenberg and Chloe Kent qualified for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo from June 22-28 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

The Lees were also named All-Around Cowboy and All-Around Cowgirl after Stix Lee won three events and placed second in two, and Stella Lee won one, and placed second in one and third in two

Contestants who placed between fifth and 25th qualified for next month’s Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca.


STIX LEE

Stix Lee won ribbon roping with Stella and tie-down roping to go with his team-roping title with Hiibel.

The Lees won ribbon roping with 337 total points after starting with 250 season points. They posted a first-go time of 8.89 seconds for 25 points, a second-go time of 18.57 seconds for 17.5 points, a short-go time of 14.85 seconds for 17.5 points and an average go time of 42.31 seconds for 27 points.

Stix Lee won tie-down roping with 375 total points after starting with 270 season points. He had a first-go time of 13.06 seconds for 25 points, a second-go time of 10.86 seconds for 25 points, a short-go time of 11.43 seconds for 25 points and an average go time of 35.35 seconds for 30 points.

In team roping, he and his partner, Hiibel, won with 314.5 total points after starting with 220 season points. Their team roping performance included a first-go time of 12.64 seconds for 25 points, a second-go time of 27.78 seconds for 17.5 points, a short-go time of 6.82 seconds for 25 points and an average go time of 47.24 seconds for 27 points.

In goat tying, Lee secured second place with 342 total points after starting with 245 season points. Lee had a first-go time of 11.1 seconds for 22.5 points, a second-go time of 10.01 seconds for 22.5 points, a short-go time of 9.64 seconds for 25 points and an average go time of 30.75 seconds for 27 points.

He also placed second in chute dogging with 322 total points after starting with 250 season points. Lee started with a first-go time of 11.1 seconds for 20 points, a second-go time of 9.73 seconds for 20 points, a short-go time of 28.99 seconds for five points and an average go time of 49.82 seconds for 27 points.


STELLA LEE

Stella Lee qualified in five events, including winning ribbon roping.

Lee finished second in pole bending with 287.5 total points after starting with 208 season points. Her results included a first-go time of 22.209 seconds for 20 points, a second-go time of 22.299 seconds for 15 points, a short-go time of 22.043 seconds for 17.5 points, and an average go time of 1:06.551 for 27 points.

In girls breakaway, Lee secured third place with 228 total points after starting with 169 season points. Her results were a first-go time of 4.55 seconds for 20 points, a second-go time of 5.14 seconds for 2.5 points, a short-go time of 4.34 seconds for 12.5 points and an average go time of 14.03 seconds for 24 points.

In barrel racing, she placed third overall with 275 total points after starting with 233 season points. Her performance included a first-go time of 16.449 seconds for 2.5 points, a second-go time of 16.161 seconds for 12.5 points, a short-go time of 16.262 seconds for 15 points and an average go time of 48.872 seconds for 12 points.

Lee and her partner, Battle Mountain’s Cray Tervort, missed qualifying by six points in the team roping after finishing fifth with 200 total points after coming in with 155 season points. Lee also finished eighth in girls goat tying with 172 total points.


CLAYTON HIIBEL

Hiibel placed first in breakaway and team roping, and fourth in ribbon roping.

In the breakaway, he secured first place with 319.75 total points after starting with 233.5 season points. Hiibel posted a first-go time of 3.92 seconds for 16.25 points, a second-go time of 3.19 seconds for 25 points, a short-go time of 3.74 seconds for 15 points and an average go time of 10.85 seconds for 30 points.

Hiibel and his partner, Fernley’s Jordyn Process, placed fourth in ribbon roping with 265 total points after starting with 204 season points. They finished with a first-go time of 17.02 seconds for 20 points, a second-go time of 14.41 seconds for 20 points and an average go time of 3:51.43 seconds for 21 points.

Hiibel missed qualifying in goat tying (fifth) and chute dogging (seventh) after finishing with 223 and 218 points.


MEGAN ALLISON

Megan Allison won the goat-tying event with 354 total points after starting with 259 season points. Her performance included a first-go time of 9.05 seconds for 20 points, a second-go time of 7.7 seconds for 22.5 points, a short-go time of 8.38 seconds for 22.5 points and an average go time of 25.13 seconds for 30 points.

She didn’t have the same luck in breakaway as she finished 10th with 137 total points after starting with 107.5 season points. But Allison will be able to compete in the SSIR in breakaway.


ROSTIN SNOW

Snow competed in two roughstock events at the Nevada State Finals: bareback riding and bull riding. He placed second overall with 162 total points in bareback riding and second in bull riding with 170 points.

Snow, though, will miss out due to a broken collarbone.


ZACHARY GREENBERG

Greenberg finished third overall in bull riding with 138.5 total points after starting with 89 season points. After a no score in the first go, he followed with a second-go score of 49 for 22.5 points and an average score of 49 for 27 points.


CHLOE KENT

Kent qualified in goat tying and just missed in pole bending.

She placed fourth in girls goat tying with 237 total points after starting with 169 season points. Kent had a first-go time of 7.77 seconds for 25 points, a second-go time of 13.2 seconds, a short-go time of 8.04 seconds for 25 points and an average go time of 29.01 seconds for 18 points.

In pole bending, Kent earned fifth place with 177.5 total points after starting with 145 season points, but she’ll be able to compete in the SSIR next month. She had a first-go time of 22.781 seconds for 12.5 points and a second-go time of 21.391 seconds for 20 points. She took 12th in barrel racing with 87 total points and 14th in breakaway with 67 points after starting with 38 season points.


SSIR-BOUND

Missing the cut for nationals were Ainsley Macpherson and Addilyn Flower, but they qualified for next month’s SSIR.

Ainsley Macpherson’s best finish came pole bending where she took seventh with 119 total points after starting with 58 season points. Her performance included a first-go time of 27.407 seconds, a second-go time of 22.275 seconds for 17.5 points, a short-go time of 21.56 seconds for 22.5 points and an average go time of 1 minute, 11.242 seconds (71.242) for 21 points.

She finished 15th in goat tying with 25.5 points, 16th in barrel racing with 45 points and 18th in breakaway with 15 points.

Flower took 23rd in pole bending with 17 points and barrel racing with nine points, and finished 25th in goat tying.
