A handful of businesses solidified their presence in Northern Nevada in recent months by purchasing their own headquarters facilities or through construction of new buildings.
Nevada State Development Corp., helped fund new ground-up construction for JP Fence and Evergreen Landscape Development. NDI Plumbing & Mechanical and CPAP & More, meanwhile, became owners of their existing buildings.
Sandy Gordon, NSDC vice president and business development officer, told NNBW that Nevada State Development Corp., is an important resource for business owners who want to expand their footprint in the Silver State.
“NSDC works closely with local banks and brokers to make these projects possible by helping businesses access the capital they need to expand,” Gordon said. “These new facilities give local businesses the space and tools they need to meet growing demand, reach more customers, and stay competitive.
“It’s exciting to see how this kind of support helps them expand their market share and prepare for long-term success,” she added. “It’s a win not just for the businesses, but for our local economy as a whole”
Here’s a closer look at each business:
JP Fence
Co-owner Shelly Plaut, who runs JP Fence with her husband, Jason, said the company’s new 5,000-square-foot facility at 15 Red Rock Road in Mound House is nearing completion. F&G Construction is the general contractor on the $1 million project that was funded by NSDC and Heritage Bank of Nevada.
The two-acre lot allows JP Fence to store additional materials and equipment, and the company also plans further expansion with a welding shop to provide custom-made gates, Shelly Plaut said.
JP Fence had been renting a much smaller facility in Mound House for the past six years, Plaut said. The larger facility better positions the company for growth and continued success.
“We just ran out of space and needed more,” she said. “We kept growing and got to where we have four trucks plus a shop truck running. This is our second location that we have outgrown.”
Jason Plaut said that increasing the company’s physical footprint also allows it to potentially land larger jobs and clients.
“This location allows for the storage of more supplies, vehicles and equipment, which allow us to obtain more equipment and employees and take on larger projects than is currently possible,” he said. “Our expansion plans also include retail sales of fencing supplies, and this property has the room required for that growth.”
JP Fence provides a wide range of commercial and residential services, including wood, vinyl, chain link, metal and ornamental fencing.
Evergreen Landscape Development
Evergreen Landscape Development owner Mike Kane leverages his more than two decades of experience in landscape design and construction, landscape maintenance, horticulture and viticulture to a new commercial facility at 1485 Geiger Grade Road. NSDC and Meadows Bank helped Evergreen Landscape Development with a $1.33 million SBA 504 loan for its new headquarters.
Evergreen co-founder Lisa Kane said in a statement that the new facility is an important milestone in the company’s growth strategy.
“We are elated with our new property and its office space, meeting rooms, outdoor space and road frontage visibility, which will allow us to serve clients even more effectively and raise our profile in the industry,” Kane said.
Evergreen Landscape Development serves customers in Reno, Sparks, Carson City and Incline Village. Clients and collaborators include Tolles Development, Clear Creek, The Village at Rancharrah, Sagemodern, FormGrey Studio, Anders Lasater Architects, Lot C Architecture, Dumican Mosey Architects, Tectonics Design Group, and Smith Design Group. Evergreen provides landscape construction and maintenance services such as irrigation installation, ponds and water features, hardscape pavers, patios, and retaining walls, planting, lighting and more. Landscape architect Ricky Kane leads the company’s landscape architecture, contemporary residential estate planning, retail, restaurant, and commercial design services.
NDI Heating, Cooling & Plumbing
NDI has been serving residential and commercial customers in Reno, Sparks and communities throughout Northern Nevada since 2004. NSDC and Plumas Bank helped NDI Heating, Cooling & Plumbing purchase its facility at 1855 Vassar St. in a transaction valued at $1.6 million.
Owner Neil DeMent said the purchase further solidifies NDI’s presence in Northern Nevada.
“Our mission includes always working with the best materials and never compromising quality while providing consistently honest customer service, and we’re confident this purchase sets us up well to satisfy our clients as we continue to grow,” DeMent said. “Owning our own property demonstrates our dedication to our neighbors.”
NDI provides plumbing and HVAC contract services, including commercial and residential installation and maintenance of heating and cooling units, water heaters, sinks, toilets, tubs and showers, garbage disposal units, water, waste and gas lines, sewer line inspections, and hydro jetting main lines. It also provides residential water analysis services and installs filtration and purification systems.
CPAP & More
CPAP & More recently purchased its headquarters building at 621 Pyramid Way in Sparks. The property was valued at $870,690.
Owner Robin Nyberg said marketing a business like CPAP & More is based on reputation, relationships and customer referrals, and the purchase further solidifies the company’s presence and allows it to serve customers more effectively.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the property; it's situated in an excellent location in Sparks,” said Nyberg, who runs CPAP & More alongside her husband and company director Bruce Nyberg.
NSDC and Harvest Commercial Capital LLC provided financing for the purchase. CPAP & More sells and rents home respiratory equipment such as CPAP machines, BIPAP ventilators, Nebulizers, oxygen tanks and respiratory equipment.
