Carson, Douglas baseball to collide Tuesday

Carson High School baseball moved to 2-1 on the season with a 12-4 win over El Dorado last weekend.

The Senators’ tallied 14 total hits, including a 4-for-4 day from Eli Locatelli, who drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Kodie Campbell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Ethan Cook posted a 3-for-5 day with a pair of RBIs as well.

Tyler LaFollette had two RBIs, too, while going 2-for-5 at the dish.

Sebastian Montes put together a multi-hit game as well as every player in Carson’s lineup finished with at least one run scored.

UP NEXT: Carson (2-1) had its home contest against McQueen (1-3-1) Thursday bumped to Friday night due to weather.

The Senators are scheduled to host Douglas (1-0) Tuesday at 6 p.m.


DOUGLAS BASEBALL BESTS FALLON 

Douglas High School opened up its spring campaign with a 2-0 win over Fallon in Minden on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers got an RBI knock from Jackson Ovard to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Ovard finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate.

Douglas got an insurance run in the sixth when Aiden Tarlo singled to left to score Colt Cummins, who led off the inning with a base hit.

On the mound, Duncan DeLange allowed just one hit over four innings of work after getting the start.

DeLange fanned eight Greenwave hitters in the win and walked four.

Peter Ziegler struck out three in two innings of relief and Blaine Bilderback closed out the game with a three-out save.

The three Tiger pitchers combined to allow two hits.

UP NEXT: Douglas (1-0) will be at home Saturday against McQueen (1-3-1) with an 11 a.m. scheduled first pitch.

TIGER SOFTBALL PAUSED IN SEASON OPENER

A lack of daylight forced a pause in Douglas High softball’s season opener at Reed Tuesday.

The Tigers led 8-7 in the bottom of the fourth inning at the time of stoppage.

A resumption date is still to be determined, according to DHS Athletic Director Daniel Senger.

In four turns through the batting order, the Tigers had six hits from six different players, including a two-run Peyton Simpson homer in the top of the fourth.

Ava Gildea was 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs while Marissa McLelland and Annie Hill had each driven in a run as well.

UP NEXT: The Tigers’ next scheduled contest is March 11 at home against McQueen (2-1). First pitch is set for 3:45 p.m.


CARSON SOFTBALL SCHEDULED FOR FOUR THIS WEEKEND

Carson High School softball (1-0) has four games on the slate this weekend at a tournament in Chico, Calif.

The Senators had three contests scheduled for Friday against Pleasant Valley, Inderkum and University Prep.

Saturday, Carson has a matchup with Shasta.

The Senators will have their first home matchup Tuesday against Damonte Ranch.


DAYTON, SIERRA LUTHERAN AT HOME THIS WEEKEND

Dayton High baseball and softball are scheduled to host Hug in a two-game home set Saturday.

Both contests will be doubleheaders, beginning at 10 a.m.

Sierra Lutheran baseball (2-1-1) is set for a three-game home series against West Wendover (2-2).

Game one was Friday while games two and three will be a Saturday doubleheader, starting at 10 a.m.
