Western Nevada College’s Fallon campus is presenting a free art show on Thursday that features Cody Deegan and Marsha Hogsed.

The show is from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Virgil Getto Hall, 160 Campus Way. Admission is free, and select pieces of art will also be for sale.

Deegan studied character animation at CalArts in Southern California and oil painting at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle. He has experience teaching airbrushing at Nevada Fine Arts in Reno, video production at Oasis Academy High School and couple’s dance classes through WNC.

Additionally, Deegan developed and taught four courses for the Master Tattoo Institute in Miami Beach, Florida.

Beyond teaching, Deegan created a tattoo simulator app for the iPad, authored an anatomy study book for character artists and produces his own comic book series. He currently owns and operates Underground Tattoo, a custom tattoo shop, and serves as the lead guitarist for the band Jukebox Rebels.

Raised in Fallon, Hogsed is a mother of two, wife and a mixed media artist who found her way back to creating after a 20-year hiatus.

During her 20-year artistic break, she maintained her creativity through crafting, floristry, home decor, party planning and gardening.

Hogsed has always been creative and built a strong foundation of art by taking classes throughout high school and obtaining her Fine Arts degree from Truckee Meadows Community College. As an artist who focused primarily on black-and-white work, she is now experimenting with color, drawing inspiration from nature’s rich palette — flowers, birds, bees and ocean life.

This collection of work reflects a journey of creative exploration and artistic growth by combining early pieces of the bold simplicity of black and white, alongside new pieces

where she explores the energy of color.

Through her art, she hopes to evoke a sense of calm and connection to the world around us. She offers viewers a moment to slow down and appreciate small details that often go overlooked — a feather of a bird, a barnacle on a whale or a reflection on a pond. She believes people should find beauty in both the subtle and grand moments of life.
