Carson High School softball swept a doubleheader against Reno on Saturday, 13-10 and 6-1.

In the first game, Carson scored three runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. The Senators tallied four runs in the fifth.

Lillian Barker was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs while Jordan Brubaker went 3-for-4 with five RBIs.

Sofia Morrison knocked in two RBIs while going 1-for-4 and pitcher Maddie Blanchard-Salazar helped herself out with a 2-for-3 day at the plate and two RBIs.

In game two, Morrison went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Senators.

Kiele Franco, Blanchard-Salazar and Brubaker were all credited with an RBI.

Blanchard-Salazar struck out five and allowed one earned run on three hits.

UP NEXT: Carson (5-4-1, 2-0 in Class 5A North league play) hosted Dayton (9-0) on Tuesday before taking on Franklin (8-3-1) of Elk Grove, Calif., on Friday.


CARSON SWIM COMPETES IN PENTATHLON

Carson High girls and boys swimming had several notable results from the pentathlon they hosted last weekend.

On the girls side, Hannah Ingram and Larkin Russell finished second and third, respectively.

Ingram posted a total time of 4:45.84 while Russell recorded a 4:49.15 in the five-event series.

The five races were the 100-yard freestyle, 100 fly, 50 free, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.

Gloria Dooley took sixth out of the 27 competitors with a time of 5:30.84.

On the boys side, Carson’s Samson Massie and Lief Morway finished in second and third place, respectively.

The two posted times of 4:22.09 and 4:24.48.

Ewan Kalley was seventh for the Senators (4:35.57) and Adam Zoghra-Awali was eighth (4:37.91).

SENATOR TRACK AND FIELD COMPETES AT MANOGUE

Carson High track and field ran this Saturday at Bishop Manogue, taking sixth on the girls side (14 points) and seventh on the boys (17 points).

In the girls competition, junior Saule Astronomo was fifth in the 200 in 30.05.

Sophomore Nastasia Sulprizio took fourth in the 800 in 2:39.58.

Vea Miner and Hannah Budd were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1,600 while Miner took fourth in the 3,200 as well.

Anne Davis was second in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a season record of 16.82. Davis finished third in the long jump, measuring a leap of 15-5.

Julie Salanoa finished second in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, two inches.

Emjae Salanoa was second in the discus with a toss of 93-5.

On the boys side, Jaren Thornburg crossed the line second in the 800 in 2:11.56.

Sawyer Macy won the 3,200 in 10:01.41 and finished second in the 1,600 in 4:30.81. Junior Sean Thornton was third in the 3,200 (10:30.32) and fourth in the 1,600 in 4:38.25.

In the discus, senior Kekoa Mitchell hit a personal record with a throw of 129-8.5.

 

DAYTON SOFTBALL STAYS UNBEATEN

Dayton High softball moved to 9-0 behind a doubleheader sweep of Truckee last weekend.

The Dust Devils opened with a 28-0 win in three innings before concluding the two-game set with a 7-1 win.

In the opener, Esmeralda Hernandez went 2-for-2 with two triples and two RBIs out of the nine slot.

Macie Hannum drew four walks and scored five runs.

Lisinita Tulimafua-Curran was 4-for-4 and LaSade Conti was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Donnita Wass, Kiley Paterson and Bradlie Stevens all recorded two hits in the opener.

In game two, Paterson had three doubles and a pair of RBIs while Conti also drove in two RBIs with a double.

Stevens, Hernandez and Paola Lopez all doubled.

Wass finished with 11 strikeouts in two games.

UP NEXT: Dayton took on Carson (5-4-1) Tuesday before hosting Spring Creek (6-5) this weekend in a three-game league series.


DAYTON BASEBALL SPLITS WITH WOOSTER

The Dust Devil baseball team is 7-2 after splitting a doubleheader with Wooster Saturday.

Dayton won game one, 5-4, before dropping the second game, 7-5.

Junior Beau Walker had a double and two RBIs in the win. Ryan Frank also knocked in a run on an RBI double.

River Aten allowed one earned run on the mound while striking out four.

In game two, Wooster took a 5-1 lead after two innings.

Walker and Viliami Tulimafua-Curran were each given an RBI in the loss.

Adrian Acosta recorded a double for the Dust Devils, too.

UP NEXT: Dayton (7-2) will host Spring Creek (8-3) in a three-game league series, beginning Friday at 3 p.m.


FALCON BASEBALL DROPS THREE AGAINST OASIS

Sierra Lutheran baseball fell in all three of its contests against Oasis Academy over the weekend – 13-1, 8-6 and 11-1.

In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Falcon third baseman Matt Fahey went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Anton Granata also had a 3-for-4 day at the plate with a double.

Drew Gleiser recorded a pair of hits in the series finale.

UP NEXT: Sierra Lutheran (2-7-1, 0-6 in Class 2A league play) hosts North Tahoe (6-3, 3-3) on Saturday for a doubleheader.
