Sir, you had a message for the thousands of demonstrators at the Capitol.
You went on to say that we are being paid to demonstrate, and we expect government handouts instead of working. With all due respect, you couldn't be more wrong. We are not being paid to demonstrate. We are teachers and veterans and retirees and business owners and voters. We elected you. We are your constituents. You work for us, and we pay your salary.
Instead of cursing us and demeaning us behind our backs, I invite you to come down to the Capitol and talk with us. Find out for yourself who we are and what our concerns are. If you do, you will see the huge difference between our demonstrations and the ones on Jan. 6, 2021.
