A Fernley man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly holding three juveniles in a crawl space, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Guillermo Aboytes Saavedra was booked into the Lyon County jail on multiple charges, including kidnapping, with a bail of $972,500.
Tuesday at 8:15 p.m., Fernley deputies responded to the 200 block of Johnson Lane. The reporting party said her brother was receiving text threats. She was able to track the phone belonging to her juvenile brother.
Near this time, Lyon County dispatch began receiving phone calls from the juvenile who said he was in a basement with two other juveniles, and that the suspect had beaten them, LCSO said in a news release.
Arriving in the area of the phone’s ping, deputies made contact with Saavedra, who was known to law enforcement and immediately detained. Shortly after that, deputies entered the backyard of the residence where Saavedra was contacted and where the juvenile’s phone was pinging, and discovered three male juveniles held captive in the crawl space of the residence, the release said.
Two of the juveniles had received substantial injuries from Saavedra striking them repeatedly with wooden tools. The juveniles reported that Saavedra had taken one of the juvenile’s phones and threatened to kill him.
The juveniles were provided medical attention and returned to their families. There is no threat to the public at this time, the release said.
Saavedra faces the following charges:
• Robbery with a deadly weapon;
• Kidnapping;
• Kidnapping with substantial bodily harm (2);
• False imprisonment;
• False imprisonment resulting in substantial bodily harm (2);
• Child abuse (3);
• Battery with a weapon resulting in substantial bodily injury (2).
