Friday and Saturday a member of the Carson High School track and field team was able to secure a regional title.
On the opening day of the Class 5A North regional meet at Douglas High School, senior Anne Davis put together a 15.78 in the 100-meter hurdles to win the regional crown and qualify for the state meet.

On the boys side, Sawyer Macy narrowly edged out Douglas’ Luke Davis for the 3,200-meter regional crown, putting together a time of 9:43.11.

Davis finished with a time of 9:43.25.

The boys and girls 4x800 relay team will both be Las Vegas bound as well.

On the girls side, Hannah Budd, Nastasia Sulprizio, Vea Miner and Allison Peachay combined for a 10:06.68 to take third place and earn a state meet berth.

Madison Krueger will join them in Las Vegas after finishing fourth in the triple jump, hitting the sand with a mark of 33 feet, 7.75 inches.

The Senator boys 4x800 team – consisting of Sean Thornton, Alex Miner, Quinn Kuchnicki and Jaren Thornburg – also finished in third place as a unit in 8:17.84.

Editor’s note: A more in-depth look at Davis’ and Macy’s regional titles will be online in the coming days as well as in Wednesday’s Nevada Appeal.
