The Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, released Tuesday morning its preliminary investigation of a May 2 motorcycle crash that killed an off-duty Churchill County Sheriff’s deputy.

The NHP said the crash occurred west of Fallon.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a blue 2022 Harley-Davidson Pan America motorcycle driven by Tristan Redmond, 29, was traveling eastbound on Cox Road at the intersection with Lakeview Drive. The NHP said the Harley-Davidson departed the paved roadway onto the right dirt shoulder, struck a fence on the south side of Cox Road and Redmond was ejected from the motorcycle.

The NHP said Redmond was transported to a Reno hospital in Reno with life threatening injuries but later died on May 13 as a result of those injuries.

The investigation indicates impairment was not found to be a factor in this crash.

A funeral service was conducted last week at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fallon. He is survived by a wife and two daughters.
