3 life terms for Reno child sex trafficker who placed ads
RENO — A 28-year-old Reno man convicted of child sex trafficking after the FBI says he placed explicit advertisements to market his victims for prostitution has been sentenced to three life terms in prison.
Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks said Wednesday Kevin Belcher will have to serve a minimum of 30 years in prison before he’s eligible for parole.
Belcher was convicted last week three counts of sex trafficking of a child under age 16.
The FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force launched an investigation into suspected sex trafficking activities in the Reno area in May 2019.
Investigators say they pinpointed Belcher as the primary suspect and developed evidence of multiple minor female victims along with ads intended to market them for prostitution. They say he also engaged in sex with underage girls.
Washoe County District Judge Kathleen Drakulich sentenced Belcher to the maximum penalty.
Deputy District Attorney Tyson League credited the victims for helping bring him to justice.
