Annual Walk in Memory, Walk for Hope in Dayton to honor those lost to suicide
On Sept. 10, more than a dozen communities throughout Nevada will be participating in the annual Walk in Memory, Walk for Hope.
The goal of the event is to increase awareness of the effects suicide has on our nation and state, and to remember those who have been lost to suicide.
At the Dayton Community Center, 170 Pike St., keynote speaker Kim Desroches will describe some of the region’s many suicide prevention resources that can help instill hope and promote healing. A Dayton resident, Desroches is part of the History Faculty at Western Nevada College, and is a certified safeTALK trainer and a probationary ASIST trainer who has been a volunteer in suicide prevention since 2006, and a trainer since 2013. Her talk will be followed by a “Walk in Memory, Walk for Hope” through Old Town Dayton.
